Career


2014–2018: Early career

Pravi began her music career in 2014, after meeting French musician Jules Jaconelli. With Jaconelli, she began composing songs. The following year, she released an original song titled "", which led to her signing a contract with Capitol Music France. She adopted the stage name Barbara Pravi from the

2019–2021: Eurovision Song Contest

In 2019, Pravi cowrote Carla's Junior Eurovision Song Contest song Bim Bam Toi, representing France in Gwlice-Silesia, Poland. This finished 5th place in the final of the competition. Also post-competition, this song was viral on TikTok and got the first viral TikTok disk with a song located in France. In 2020, Pravi cowrote Valentina's Junior Eurovision Song Contest entry J'imagine, representing France in Warsaw, Poland. This won the contest, being the first out of two of Pravi's Junior Eurovision Song Contest wins. In 2021, Pravi represented France in Eurovision Song Contest with the song Voilà. She finished 2nd to Italian group Maneskin. This was historic in the French Eurovision history as it was the best result for France in 30 years and the highest scoring entry (in points) in French Eurovision history since their debut in 1956. Pravi was asked to represent France many times before but she declined due to "not feeling ready". *


2021–present: Post-Eurovision ventures

In July 2021, Pravi announced her first international tour for her debut studio album, ( en, We don't lock up the birds), which came out on 27 August 2021. Pravi performed "" as an interval act at the
Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2021 The Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2021 was the 19th edition of the annual Junior Eurovision Song Contest, organised by France Télévisions and the European Broadcasting Union (EBU). The contest was held on 19 December 2021 at La Seine Musica ...
, which took place on 19 December in Paris. Pravi also performed the song "" ( en, The man and the bird) at the 37th edition of the , where she went on to win the Female Revelation of the Year award. On International Women's Day, 8 March 2022, Pravi released "" ( en, Prayer for yourself). On 13 July 2022, Pravi released "365", which is dedicated to all the fans who have supported her in the past year. Pravi co-wrote Lissandro’s song "", which went on to win the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2022 for France. On 21 December, Pravi was announced as Florence in the TV movie "Adieu Vinyle" to be premiered on France 2, it is supposed to be premiered in mid 2023. This is Pravi's 3rd acting role after Un été 44 (2016) and La sainte famille (2017, but premiered in 2019). It is also credited on her portfolio that she starred in Barbara Pravi (voilà qui je suis) in 2021 but this was a documentary which she was the person they were filming about

In late 2022 and early 2023, Pravi was rumoured to represent France in

. It has been confirmed to be false as Alexandra Redde Amiel, the French head of delegation for Eurovision, confirmed that La Zarra will represent them in Liverpool. However, Pravi is still accredited for Eurovision Song Contest 2023 on IMDb alongside Megan Chung so it's been unannounced whether she is still currently active in the cast for the show, as herself, as a composer, as something completely different or inactive in the show's broadcast in Early to mid May 2023. On January 6, 2023, she announced she was officially signed to Virgin Records France after 8 years at Capitol Music France. It is currently unknown if she is still signed to Universal Music France, Intagio Records and Megan Entertainment Group but looking at the announcement post, it looks like she is still singed to them, as they wasn't mentioned. which was released in August 2021. She is working on this alongside her television movie debut in Adieu Vinyle, a TV movie which is set to premiere on France 3 in mid 2023. On January 13, 2023, she was announced as a temporary host on the BBC podcast show "Music Life". The first episode included November Ultra, Pi Ja Ma, Yaël Naïm and Melissa Lauveux and the second episode explains Pravi's playlist "Sur la route" (on the road) which is a playlist she plays on tour. Also on this show, Pravi confirmed that she has a new project (assumption that it's a single) coming out March 8, 2023, with lots of drawings and poems attached with the project. This also follows on from her French radio debut on RTL2's Foudre with Waxx, which she co-hosted an episode with Waxx.
